John I. Baker III , is an Associate Professor of Communications and Theatre. He has
directed over 125 productions. Past productions include Peter and the Starcatcher,
Six Characters in Search of an Author, Our Town, Bellwether, Front, Little Shop of
Horrors, Doctor Faustus, The Glass Menagerie, The Crucible, The Elephant Man, Lend
Me A Tenor, The 39 Steps, On Golden Pond, and Carousel.
As an actor, John has appeared in The Games Afoot, or Holmes for the Holidays, A Christmas
Carol: Scrooge and Marley, A Few Good Men, Barefoot in the Park, A Laura Ingalls Wilder
Christmas and Avarice in Ambrosia to name a few.
He founded the Yorkshire Playhouse Children’s Theatre, where he has directed A Walk
Through Fairytale Forest, A Grimm Adventure, Doctor Dolittle and Treasure Island.
As a playwright, John has published his adaptations of The Patchwork Girl of Oz, Queen
Zixi of Ix and Alice in Wonderland. John was also the creator, producer, writer, and
lead puppeteer for The Magic Storybook, a children’s television show in Bismarck,
North Dakota.

Baker founded the Yorkshire Playhouse Children’s Theatre, where he directs productions
every summer. Currently he appears in the Kilgore Memorial Library’s streamed production
of Storytime with Mr. and Mrs. B.
