Why Should I Visit?

Before deciding on a college or university, you want to make sure it's a good fit. Visiting campus is the best way to find that out. We can tell you how beautiful the brick buildings are or describe the family environment of our university, but that's nothing compared to experiencing it for yourself. Just one word of caution, if you do come for a visit -- there's a good chance you'll like it here!

We highly recommend visiting when classes are in session (end of Aug-end of April). There is much more to do and see when students are here. But if summer is the only time that works in your schedule, we'll still have lots of campus visit slots open. Wondering if a date will work for you? Reach out to your enrollment counselor to see.

We also suggest avoiding visits during certain school holidays as faculty/staff availability can be limited. These dates for 2022-2023 include:
  • May 29, 2023 (Memorial Day)
  • July 4, 2023 (Independence Day)
  • Sept 4, 2023 (Labor Day)

During the school year, our campus visits begin at 9:15 a.m. During the summer, our campus visits start at 10:00 a.m.

One of our enrollment counselors will be your personal guide for the day and your schedule will be customized to include the items you care about most.  Visits range from just a few hours to a full day depending on what you've selected. Those planning on trying out for a sport should plan on a full day.  When you set up your visit, you can choose to include the following activities:

  • Tour Campus
  • Meet with Financial Aid
  • Attend our Daily Gathering
  • Enjoy a Meal in the Cafeteria
  • Meet with a Faculty Member
  • Talk with a Coach or Director
  • Tryout for a Sport (based on coach availability)
  • Audition for University Singers (choir) (Seniors only unless arranged with Director)
  • See Campus Residence Halls

Once your schedule is ready, it will be emailed to you 24-48 hours prior to your visit date. If you need to make changes to your schedule contact your enrollment counselor.

There are several area hotels that offer special rates to families visiting York University as well as several lodging rentals available. For a full list, please visit our accommodations page
