York University partnered with York County Development Corporation (YCDC) once again to host a career fair and provide students with opportunities this fall. On November 12, area employers gathered on the York University campus to network with current students, as well as promote any job openings that they had. Taking place in the Campbell Center after our daily devotional, numerous students connected with businesses to explore what kind of opportunities awaited them in the community.

“The Career Fair is a wonderful event that strengthens our ties to the surrounding communities by bringing together businesses and students,” said Robert Vickrey, associate professor of business. “Our students benefit as they become more aware of local jobs and internships while getting the opportunity to network with industry professionals from a wide variety of careers.”

“Along with the YCDC, we are promoting a viable and supportive business ecosystem that focuses on economic growth and personnel development,” continued Vickrey. “Industry professionals across the region benefit as they become more aware of our high-quality students who align with their organizational culture and values. As a new resident/professor, I am so very impressed with this kind of collaboration and joint effort in support of bettering our local communities.”

Employers that were in attendance represented a multitude of fields from medical to engineering, and everything in between. This included Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District, Collins Aerospace, Klute Inc, York General, Jimmy John's York, Mosaic, Cyclonaire Corp, Apace, City of York, Corteva Agriscience, Sandhills Global, McLean Beef, York County Development Corporation, Epworth Family Resources, NexAt, and Bayer Waco Seed Production.

“Thank you to the amazing employers who made the York University Career Fair possible,” added Erin Baker, associate professor of accounting. “Not only were students able to learn about career opportunities around the York area, they were also able to learn about many internship opportunities as well. As a Professor, I was able to connect with local businesses to create touring opportunities for Business Club, FBLA, and Accounting students. It was great to learn about opportunities for various degree programs with all of the employers.”

YCDC and York University look forward to holding this event for years to come.
